Summer Youth Employment Training
Sponsored
by: The New Covenant Church
and
the City of Austin
MISSION
To
provide opportunities for youth development through meaningful
work experiences that promote economic self-sufficiency,
good citizenship and healthy lifestyles.
Each
year just before summer arrives, the New Covenant Church
participates in the City of Austin sponsored Summer Employment
Training Program.
This
training program was designed for young people generally
under the age of 17 years old, who desire to find jobs
within the City of Austin during the summer months.
They
are taught how to apply for jobs, dress for interviews,
and among other things how to be a good employee.
Under
the direction of Pastor Eddie E. Willis, Sr., volunteers
from the New Covenant Church assist with the organization
and training. They have really enjoyed working with the
youth.
The
youth of today are looking for good role models in today's
society. We have strived to fulfill this beginning part
of their lives and be a benefit. Hopefully we can instill
them with the desire to be good employees today and into
the future in whatever are of the job force they may aspire
to be a part of.
